We look at the life and career of Senator Benjamin Wade of Ohio and how/why Sen. Wade falls one vote short of being the 18th President of the United States.

Season 2, Episode 4 “Ohio v. Murder 2.0 (Part One)” (Christie Mullins) Alex delves into an infamous murder from Ohio’s history, the murder of 14 year old Columbus girl, Christie Mullins in 1975. Alex interviews author John Oller about the murder and trial detailed in his eBook “All American Murder” (2014). We look at the brutal crime, quick arrest and a dubious confession in the summer of 1975 that shook the Clintonville neighborhood. We look at the trial of Jack Carmen, a slew of suspects and the bungled police investigation with Oller and Mary Mendicino, a fellow student and friend of the murder victim. Murder 2.0 (Part Two)” (Christie Mullins) In Season 2’s true crime episode, Alex interviews author John Oller about how his book and his own investigation solved the cold case murder of Christie Mullins. We speak with Mary Mendicino about how the investigation of her friend’s murder warms up after being a cold case for nearly 40 years.  We look at a modern investigation of a 1970s crime and how our guest helped to crack the case open.

It’s Repeal Day! December 5, 1933, Utah, the final state needed for a 3/4 majority ratified the 21st Amendment repealing Prohibition forever. 14 years of the Volsted Act was over. People across the country celebrated this day December 5th by getting very, very drunk, as was their right. So Happy Repeal Day! One of our most popular episodes was last season’s “Ohio v. Booze” discussing how Prohibition came to pass and how it was all Ohio’s fault. Still one of my favorite episodes.

Guest Craig Brown tells this little-known story and his efforts to get Moses Fleetwood Walker Day recognized by the State of Ohio (5:45); 2) Branch Rickey, Delaware, Ohio’s famous baseball innovator and how he and Jackie Robinson break the color barrier in Major League Baseball, Capital University AD Roger Ingles shares stories of Mr. Rickey’s remarkable career (24.00); 3) The BlackSox Scandal of 1919.  Baseball historian Rick Huhn tells the story of the infamous 1919 World Series and the Cincinnati Reds 1st world championship (47:00); 4) Merkle’s Boner.
